Getting into the 13s
I ran a best time of 14.238 on 255s at 101mph(Hooked up great). Put different tires on 245/50R16 ran 14.22 at 102mph with tires spinning. Only mod is Borla exhaust. 2.73 rearend. Will Headers only put me into the 13s?

if you can afford it go to headers but the easiest thing to put you in the 13s is to change that gear to atleast a 3.23. With just a stock gear and a flowtech dumppipe I ran 13.5.

What year is your car??? And what tranny?? 6 speed or automatic??
I thought that most LS1 F-bodies were almost guaranteed a 13-something down the 1/4 mile!?
I haven't had a chance to run my car yet, but I'm going to the track in about two weeks to run it for the first time (I've got 3000 miles on the car already, and by then I'll probably have over 4000 miles, so the motor should be nice and broken in).
I was hoping to get at least a mid-13, and maybe a low-13 if I was lucky, but I don't want to go there and only run a 14!!!!
Can someone clear this up?! Is it true that "The Almighty LS1"
can only run in the 14's?????
To answer your question though: YES, headers are a BIG improvement to any motor, and if you're already at 14.2, headers should give you enough of a boost to break into the 13's.

in gm high tech magazine they tested the 1999 Ls1 and the best run they had at the track was 12.89 with the 6 speed trans...any LS1 even the automatics should be able to run high 13's easily stock..
HAHAHA, I agree, this car should be running 13's with that trap speed. Wait until a cooler day or go to a different track. Something is wrong. Also see if everyone else there is running unusually slow. Good luck with your 13 sec dreams.

First off, the car is very likely an automatic with that 2.73 ring'n'pinion.
Biggest difference on automatics will be the torque converter and gears. Also, what were your 60' times? For each .1 reduction in the 60' time generally yields .15 reduction in ET.
Longtube headers tend to gain .3-.4 on heads/cam cars. I'm not convinced any header on a stock LS1 engine will drop you .3 without other mods.
edit: Dang that's a big signature, let me clean that up...

Actually if the car came with a 2.73 gear it has to be automatic. On all LS1 Fbodies A4s got a 2.73 stock with 3.23 optional and the M6 got a 3.46. Just clarifying for everyone.

Ummmm..... How about giving us the proper info about what kind of car you are talking about champ! For all I know your referring to a 1979 Pinto. Sounds like you are running an LT1 Camaro and you are right about where guys are when they are stock. You need to tell us more, yr, mods, etc.
Btw, low 13s are a piece of cake with a slightly modified LS1, check my sig, if you know how to drive of course.

Alright, 2000 Z28, 2.73 gears automatic, Borla exhaust. That's about it. Had a Jet chip(took that thing out)Strip is in Juselsburg Colorado. Hight altitude.Ran the 14.22 on a hot day.
OK, you're at altitude - 3500 track elevation and probably another 1500 feet DA for the weather ... so low 14 for a bacically stock isn't to far out of whack.
How's your 60s. Launching is generally the quickest and easiest way to improve your times ... sounds like you have a couple of sets of rims ... get some sticky tires for the 16" set and that will help your launches.
Also, doesn't look like you have a lid or any other intake mods ... get a lid or a FIPK.
Good Luck
