Question Getting a FREE Flowmaster, questions...

This guy I know installed a Loudmouth on his car (damn, does it sound fierce) and said he'd give me his old Flowmaster muffler, so I said alright.

I was set on getting a Magnaflow muffler, but I like this guy's price better , so how good/bad is the Flowmaster muffler? I've just heard it's loud and doesn't make a performance difference.

No performance benifit to speak of and tends to rasp inside the car .. particularly around 2500 rpms. I personally find it annoying and unrefined in the cabin, I just turn up the tunes till it gets drowned out ...

That said ... I get a crap load of compliments on how my car sounds ... and you can't beat your price ...

Good Luck

Can't beat your price, definitely gives the car a deep but muffled roar at all rpms (not just when you get on it like many others), also does'nt "growl" like alot of other systems I've heard. I too get compliments on the sound.
I would have (and probably will) buy a LM or Hooker later on though since the car already had the Flowmaster exh. when I bought it.

Thumbs up

I just got back from having a Flowmaster muffler installed and after 45 minute cruise I am very happy.

I don't know the series of it, but it is a 2-chamber and makes a nice rumble at idle and throughout the rpm band. It is not obnoxiously loud at any speeds. Unlike the one I had on my LT1.

I cruised on the hwy @ 80 and the noise level hadn't changed much at all. Same with stop-and-go traffic.

Performance gains are probably minimal, if any, but I'm going to get an electric cutout anyway. Let's keep in mind that we are talking about opinions here , but so far I definetely like it a lot.

And since your price seems to be right, what the heck! I paid 24 bucks for mine from a member on this board a few days ago.

Later!

TS

interesting. i was always very unsatisfied with the loudness of my flowmaster until i got to WOT. sounds ok to me at high RPM, but not nearly loud enough. at idle, i couldn't even hear the thing, even with the windows open. i guess it sounds better from behind the car.

way too tame for my taste, but free is a very good price. go for it man. i'd recommend a cutout install along with the flowmaster. i have a taste for an unrefined, loud exhaust note, so the cutout is perfect for me. the cutout cap is only getting bolted on once a year, for emissions testing.

Thanks for the info. I'll take the muffler and install it when I get the chance, if I don't like I, I guess I can always get a Magnaflow and have the Flowmaster taken off, right?

On a side note, today was the first time I heard a Loudmouth and I've got to say, DAMN! The guy's car is an '01 Z28 with an SLP lid and smooth bellows. It sounds loud at just 1,500 RPMs and just keeps getting louder. It will definitely scare anyone in traffic.
