Question General Maintenance

I'm in the market for a used Z28 or TransAm and was wondering if these cars are easy to work on (I like to work on my car when I can).

Is it hard to:

- change the oil & filter
- flush and change the coolant
- change the air filter
- give it a lube job

Thanks.

O.K. - here's my answers !

(Tell me what I win !! )
  • change the oil & filter
Nothing to it, so long as you have a set of ramps to get underneath.
  • flush and change the coolant
The drain is easy to reach on the passenger side bottom of the radiator - flush ? Dunno, as I have never tried this.
  • change the air filter
Piece of cake ! The filter is up top under a lid held on by 2 clamps - undo the clamps, and you are in.
  • give it a lube job
My '99 has zero grease fittings, so real simple !!

You did not ask about plugs - I am like you, and wound up paying to have them done ...

On the plus side, it was only $ 100.00 for labor - it could have been far worse.

Good Luck, and have fun !!

Britt
