Gen IV LS2 Question?

I was wondering if the 6.0L Gen IV LS2 Engine that comes in the 2005 GTO is a direct bolt in for the 98+ LS1 cars? From what I can tell the two engines look very similar. Thanks.

If you used the 05 computer and sensors. And you'd have to fab up an intake lid adapter.

Re: Gen IV LS2 Question?

Yes, it will physically bolt-in direct, but as mentioned, you'd need the computer (or at least some serious tuning done to the LS1 computer, if it would even work at all? ) but other than getting a slightly larger bore than the LS1, there's nothing to be gained by dropping in the LS2 that you couldn't get by doing a heads & cam swap on your LS1. You'd actually end up further ahead, and probably less money too.

Re: Gen IV LS2 Question?

you can get an engine from gmpartsdirect.com already...and it's cheaper than buying the ls1, drop in ready to roll. but the thing is, ls1/6 parts are readily available and cheap.

You can also get the 402 LS2 shortblocks from Scoggin Dickey Performance Parts now.

Re: Gen IV LS2 Question?

but the allure of the LS2 for me is good power with no mods.

I just do not want to mod any more cars.. Lately I have been thinking of dropping the GTO drivetrain and LS2 into my porsche.. that would be hella wicked..
