Gains from hooker LTs

How much did u gain? Ive heard FLPs get about 25 rwhp and rwtq. But I cant afford them. Hooker LTs run for less than half the price ($409), and was wondering if Hooker LTs are even worth it. What kind of gains can I expect.

While I can't say personally, from reading on here, I've heard that Hooker headers are supposed to work well and fit well. I think they're supposed to tuck up fairly tight to the car underneath. Also, I don't see why any header (long-tube) won't gain ~20+ HP, whether they're Hooker's, FLP's, SLP's, whatever.

IMO (this can be added to with actual experience) LT's should net quicker ET's --- probably ~.1 - .3 seconds, and a couple MPH as well. After gears, LT's will probably be my next mod!

I don't have times for mine, very noticeable difference, install was great.

A member from ls1.com got 32rwhp from his hookers.

Thanks, but wouldnt I see a little more than .1 - .3 better in 1/4. I heard that headers can drop you from .4 - .6 on a fairly stock car. I have a cutout too. Also would it be easier to just take my cats off while installing the headers.

Yes i KNOW the car will be unbearably LOUD.

Also if Hookers gain just as much power as FLPs then what makes FLPs so popular if they cost twice as much???

I think the FLPs come w/ a y pipe, and they are supposed to have a better fit, although it could be people justifying their expense.

Maybe so. I know I read an article once where they installed a set of headers on an F-body, and shaved something like ~.2 seconds off their ET....................it may have been an LT1 car though, so the LS1 probably would get a ~.5 second gain! Heck, maybe I need to buy a set and find out for myself!!!

Cars at our average weight will gain ~.1 sec and ~1mph for every 10 hp added. This is only true if traction and weather are simular.
So if the headers got you 25 hp then you'd gain about .25 and 2.5mph. You will NOT get .5 sec and 5mph from a 25hp mod.
Hope this clears it up for you.

My 02Z28 dyno'd 344.5/366.8 after I installed Hooker LT's, ORY, and Loudmouth...there shouldnt be too much diff. in HP gains btw brands.

Where is the cheapest place to find the LTs. I know LS1speed.com has them for $409. Anyone know where I can get them for less?

One reason I went with the FLP L/T's was clearance...I have about a 1" drop on my SS, and those FLP's tucked up in there so tight that I have no problems... I have friends with SLP and Hooker headers, and they do have clearance probs...(speed bumps, etc...) They come Jet Coated, and are simply well made. I would reccomend them to anyone. Install was simple as well...a little over five hours from pulling the car in the garage...even without a lift.
