Post Functional Ram Air SS Hood

Finally picking up my 02 Silver SS tomorrow!!!!! Can't freakin Wait!!!! Anway's back to my question. I was looking at a non option SLP SS yesterday and looked under the hood and noticed that the air scoop was blocked off and not functional. I though it was functional! Just wondering if my SLP optioned car will have a functional hood? Can someone please clear this up for me. Thanks

No, the hood is just there to look good.

the 'ram air' part is GM marketing term, not an indication that air going in the hood opening gives you any performance gains. The opening would have to be bigger, and placed higher up, out of the boundary layer, and the speeds much higher. The high pressure area in front of the radiator, where the air enters the filter, is created by the air dam under the car.

The hood does look good though.

That's weird, I was looking at my hood and it is functional, I mean who knows how much, it goes in a big circle and then comes out the front. Its weird, but mine works, its not just a fake plactic peice of plactic Ford Mustang style. You could also if you want open your airpox and cut out the rest of the bottom. If you do that ir being picked up under the car by the air dam gets shoved into the engine....
