Frustrated - AIR codes won't go away!
Ive had these two codes going off for about a year now and can't seem to get rid of them. This engine light is driving me crazy!
P0412 and P0410 first appeared July of last year. I started off by replacing the Air Solenoid relay and that hasn't fixed the problem. I then placed the test lamp between the positive and negative connections where the AIR solenoid goes, and it lights up as a good connection. However, the DTC light is still coming back on when they codes been erased.
I now have installed headers during last winter (Pacesetter longtubes), with the ORY(no cats). I put O2 simulators on the rear O2's. Driving normally since April, I have noticed in the past week I have new codes and a new problem.
Codes that have popped up P0138, P0140, P0158, P0160.
Ive recently noticed that whenever im cruising normally at 1500rpms in 5th or 6th gear, then give my car 70% throttle it starts popping like mad, not back firing but a popping sound. I can feel a significant loss of hp whenever a pop occurs. Also, whenever I floor it and it starts reaching redline it starts the popping aswell in any gear.
Now I know I can get these rear O2's tuned out. But will it fix the popping sound? And all of the DTC's? Also will it fix the 1-2 second delay when trying to start up the car due to cold O2's? I have to go through Smog/Aircare basically the same as in California. Do you think the P0410 and P0412 are caused due to a faulty AIR pump? What should I do, opionons need at its best.
Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks!
Erik
Note:
-I have an exhaust leak from the headers.
-The simulators are brand new, and I have checked all the wiring a day ago and its all fine.
-I have looked for the check valves where you can blow through it only one way but cant seem to find it/them.

Your computer will sometimes outsmart your sims and throw a code or two.
An easy solution would also be to invest in a tuning software, hptuners or ls1edit, etc., and tune out your rear o2's and AIR codes too. Since you live in Cali (Smog Hell) just retain your pump, and tune out the codes. AIR has nothing to do w/ the driveability of your car, so that's not causing any of your cruising/start up issues.
