Fouled #5 Plug.. What do I need to check?

I need help...

I mis-shifted at the track. Going 1-2-3... 2. After the run I got a blinking SES light. I pulled all of the plugs and only the #5 plug was fouled.

I changed the plugs. I didn't reset the PCM, but the blinking ses happens intermediately and only at idle sometimes now.

I had just done a h/c swap the weekend before this mis-shift. Can you tell me what would only cause this one cylinder to foul a plug? I'm gonna pull them again this afternoon to see if it's beginning to be fouled again.

Thanks

The car is being LS1Edit tuned this weekend, and I need to try and fix this before the tune. Or will the tune solve this?

Alright..

I went down.. Pulled all of my pushrods to see if I bent any. None were bent (shrewwwww) thank goodness.

However, I changed my plugs on Sunday.. It is now Wed. and the same #5 plug is completely covered with some kind of soot. Not oil or gas, kinda like a thick black powder. I only start the car to let it idle and I took a 20 min drive on Mon.

I'm totally lost. Also the SES light only blinks at idle.

Could it be that my car just needs a tune. I've installed LT's, removed the cats, and done a h/c swap. I'm hoping that this is all that it is, but it just seems weird that it's only fouling one plug.

I also tried the feeling the header from that cylinder on startup to see if it was firing, and yes. It got hot quick as hell..

Any more ideas?

maybe the pushrod to that cylinder is just slightly bent, and not bent bad enough to see. That is what i would start with.

After my h/c swap, I just continued to use my Mobil 1 synthetic oil. Could this have caused the valves seals or something to not settle properly. I'm just thinking of a lot of crap. The compression check is getting done tomorrow morning.

Still tryin to get this question answered. Can you bend a valve on a bad shift and not bend a pushrod.

Also how accurate is the rolling the pushrod on glass to verify whether or not it's bent?

Thanks

Could it be a bad injector making #5 run rich?

Well, as you all know I've been having problems with my car fouling my #5 plug. (http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163461) Well after looking the plugs over again we noticed that they were all sorta getting cover with soot.

So today I pulled the intake manifold, and what did I find. I found the intake runners of my new stage 2 heads completely coated with oil. The damn PCV system is just blowing oil into the manifold and screwing up the plugs. The number #5 seemed to be fouling first because that's where the puddle was. There was actually oil running along the outer edges of the runners.

So in the two weeks since my heads were installed my car seems to have blown at least a quart of oil into there. Explaining my smoking on startup and after short drives and the random misfires I've been getting.

Thanks for all of your responses. I'll be doing the PCV mod and installing an oil catch can.

Get the AMW oil catch can, probably the best oil catch can made today.

Well...
After doing the PCV mod that I found on install university, and running a can of the GM topend aresol spray through the car. Everything is clean and the damn #5 plug is fouling again and the SES light is back.

I guess that I'm going to pull the valvespring and check the valve seal. If that isn't the problem then I guess I'm gonna have to pull the head to see if I bent a valve..
