Forged or cast?

A guy i work with has a 98 T/A he went to thunder racing and they installed a nos wet kit 150 shot. Does the engine have forged or cast pistons. If cast will it hold up?

98 T/A has a LS1 in it so you should post this in the LS1 section. I don't know a lot about LS1's, but I'm pretty sure that they are cast pistons. They should hold up fine as long as it's set-up right and doesn't run lean.

There are no forged components in either the LT1 or the LS1. Forged parts are AVAILABLE, but not stock.

You might want to check out the Nitrous forum ... there is probably more info there on what's normal/safe to run on a stock engine. IMO, a ~150 shot would be the absolute MAX ... I think lots of people run ~75 shots with no problems whatsoever ... 150 is probably do-able, but you'd have to be more careful with it .

Depends on how often he sprays and how well the set up is done.
There are many LS1's running a 150 shot w/no problems, but if you're racing often you'll eventually break something. Plus if it ever goes lean.....

If you are going to run a 150 shot i would go ahead and install a Walbro intank fuel pump for cheap insurance Running the engine lean on nitrous can lead to all sorts of bad news.

the motor should hold up , but it is a good idea to eventally forge the internals

Forged internals are a good idea, but a good tune is imperative. 100 shot could be potentially dangerous on a bad tune.
