Flywheel Recommendations - PLEASE

Not too long ago I purchased the McLeod Rev-Lok II. It came with the clutch disc and pressure plate. To install the Rev-Lok II, machining to the flywheel was required. Long story short, after being machined, both trimmed down because of burn marks and drilled appropriately for the clutch, my mechanic believes, and I trust him, that the flywheel is possibly too weak for the clutch system and if something were to go wrong, in the worst case scenario it could break apart, rip up my transmission and possibly come through the floor and harm me or a passenger.

So ... what I need is a new flywheel. I'm not interested in a lightweight flywheel that will not hold for drag racing, i.e. Fidenza lightweight aluminum flywheel. I did find the SLP Steel Billet flywheel for $380 from lmperformance.com ... I would also like to find a McLeod Flywheel that I can compare it to but can't find one that's not sold in a clutch package. Can you guys recommend to me possibly some better flywheels and/or better deals/prices at other locations? Thank you much.

We just recently received our new line of SFI legal steel and aluminum flywheel designed specifically to help LT1 and LS1 Corvette and Camaro. I haven't put them up on our site yet. However if you're interested in steel our will definitely be much cheaper than thr $380 you saw one for. Drop me a line and I can give you pricing. They're so new I haven't even decided pricing yet. Hey hey..maybe you or someone can be the first to set the pricing on these for everyone else

Hey, i'm just curious, you ever find out if you got the revised one or not? Let me know. And i'd say you can use your stock one, but if you want an aftermarket one, i've heard the billet steel one's aren't too bad, not as light as aluminum, but not as heavy as stock and stronger than stock.

Yes I did call and I do have the revised one... I've been trying to call McLeod about flywheels today but been getting the busy signal... Ya, I'm not too sure about the aluminum flywheels, I want something very strong. I'd use the stock one but because of the 'burns' and trimming in addition to the drill outs to fit the clutch, he was afraid it might not hold up so I'm gonna safe rather than sorry...

Oh aight, cool. Glad you have the revised one! I had my flywheel machined and drilled to fit also, so I hope mine holds up, which i'm sure it will, cause i'm pretty sure my friends did the same. I'll ask them and let you know. Just wait till you get that thing in there man, you're gonna love it!!!
