first time at the track this weekend

have a 2000 ss 6 speed, ran a 8.93 @ 83 mph 1/8 on stock tires and i did'nt warm up the tires. is this a good time, weather was humid, and only mod i have is loudmouth exhaust. my buddy has a 02 ram air 6 speed and we were both in the 8.90's all night, he has cut out exhaust, air lid, sub frame connectors, and slp smooth bellow. i heard that the 01-02 were faster than 98-00, but i dont believe it now, there was also a 03 cobra the best it ran was in the 8.90 aren't they rated at 390 hp, i thought that was a litte slow.

Thumbs up Track Times !

Mind you - this is all relative - humidity, temps, track conditions, yada yada yada will all affect things.

At any rate - my first time Evar ! netted a 9.135 1/8 @ 81.92 MPH - 1/4 was 13.992 @ 99.46 MPH.

Best that night ( outta 4 runs ) was a 8.963 1/8 @ 82.70 which netted a 1/4 of 13.774 @ 101.68.

This was w/ a '99 T/A A4 - stock down to the GSC's .

Typically a M6 will show better mph than a A4 - your is a hair faster than mine was in the mph's as expected.

I am surprised at that Cobra's times - I would have expected better. Maybe they pick up on the upper end, or his is slower than normal, or maybe he's learning to launch the IRS - I hear that's tricky.

Hope this helps !

Britt

Cool

That's not far off 8.798 @ 83.9 in the 1/8th which my car ran this spring. Like Britt said, the conditions can make all the difference in the world too...........for instance, my car only ran a 14.0 @ 103 last year (1/4 mile) but this year, without any changes to the car, ran 13.4 @ 106 (which is the run where I got 1/8th mile time above). When I was at the track that night, there was a Z06 only running 13.2's which isn't much better than my 13.4's, so the DRIVER can also have a big effect on how a car does.

best ive run is 8.88 @ 82.5 and that was on a 13.5 @ 105.5 quarter mile run. so you are pretty much in the mid 13's. nothing wrong with that from a 2000. the 01-02's are a little faster but not by much usually.

See sig for 1/4 miles time and trap speed. 1/8th was 8.713 @82.91. With better weather and practice, you will beat those numbers easily. Good first time showing. The guy in the Stang had no idea how to drive his car. Word of advice, don't heat street tires. Give them a light spin, not a burn out. Just spin them enough to clean them off and dry off any water from the burnout box, which you should go around, not through. Practice your launch, less spin is good. You will should hit low to mid-13's.
