First performance part

I've got a 2000 Camaro Z28 I'm getting paid tomorrow and i'll have about $450-500. What is the first performance part i should get? I want something that i'll be able to feel or will be worth it. I'm just not sure what part to get first. thanks for the help

One of the first things I would think would be either cat-back or an intake.

Start with the exhaust. Get a catback then next time around get your headers.

If you buy a used catback, you will have enough left over to buy a lid too, and if you buy them both used, you might have enough left over for gas money.

MTI/SLP lid, and a catback (no 80 series). Should be SOTP.

Gotta love that Borla! . Usually they can be had used for about ~300. $450 would be max I would pay for a used one. I picked one up for a buddy for $200 a while back. Having cash in hand is the name of the game though whenever buying a part.

Initial mods are fine until you mature w/ the car and decide on long term plans..

Lid
C/B (magnaflow for a great bang for the buck)
P+P'd TB

LCA's
Skip Shift eliminator (I take it your Z is a stick?)

Free mods.. See my stickey. .It's down there a ways.

Something big, like a H/C package? Guess what...he still needs a good exhaust first. Gears may also be a good choice, depending on what you have back there now.

I would do sub-frame connectors, a lid and a cut-out.

I like the idea of a Borla exhaust with an electric cut-out so i can change it when I want. What headers would be good with borla?

Depends, what kind of emissions regulations do you have to deal with? Long tubes would be the best bet in terms of gains and flow.
