Ummm, ya it is the second time I said that. Cuz someone didn't read and asked me again why not 4.10s. Then you didn't read that he didn't read and asked me why I said it twice. So if you all would take the few seconds to read the thread before replying that'd be great. Kinda forum etiquette there anyway ya know.
Anyway, still thinking about the gears. For now I'm leaning towards 3.73s for BOTH of the reasons already stated. From what I've seen theres quite a difference between even the 3.73 and 4.10s in gas mileage as well. Sure once I get the money and really mod the car, like break into the engine and whatnot, 4.10s are the way to go no question. Thats a long way off. So if all I'm having for quite some time is the simple stuff like full exhaust, intake maybe, TB, Lid, etc, and driving on the street a lot, 4.10s are more a hindrance in gas mileage than they are productive for me I think.
I know the LS1 is not an LT1. Thats kinda y I bought it... The LS1 is known for its top end, while the LT1 is a torque monster down low. So where I was going with that is 4.10s seem to be more at home in an LT1. Don't get me wrong, I love 4.10s. Believe me. I'm still deciding, just stating what I'm leaning towards now and why. By all means, if you can combat that with accurate and informative info and convince me 4.10s are the way to go for me, please do. I'm here asking questions for a reason.
Also, don't think the dealer would of liked me sitting out in the parking lot swapping shifters before swapping cars(traded the LT1 in on this car).

You totally mis-understand. You assume that I didn't read your posts but I read your posts thouroghly. Your reasoning for going 3.73s is flawed for an LS1 car. With a motor that makes it's power above 4500rpm and spins to 6200rpm as an LS1 does 4.10s are just plain the better choice for a street car or a street/strip car. It lets the motor get to the power band quicker be in the power band more.
And fuel mileage is controlled by your right foot when you have a double over drive trans. When in 6th gear (.5) it's the same as having 2.05 gears in a non-overdrive car so the 4.10s are irrelevant for cruising.
Do what you want, it's your car. But do it for the right reasons.

LS1s are NOT 5.0s, not LT1s, and NOT like any other SBC motor that makes peak power at 5500 rpm and peak torque at 2500 rpm.
LS1s spin to 6000+ RPM stock and will take your car up to 120mph @6000 rpm with a 4.10 gear in 4th in the 1/4 mile. Putting 4.10s in a 6-speed car is the best gear you can put in it.

I meant no disrespect to you, I was merely trying to explain my point of view, and battle the idiot who didn't read the thread, because thats a peeve of mine. I thought you had not read HIS post, which lead to you questioning why I had posted again, and HE did not read my post, which is why.
And that brings me to Kraest calling me a douche for no reason when I did not in any way disregard Al's recommendation or know-how, I just asked for an explanation and even pointed out that I DON'T KNOW, thats why I'm here asking. Good to see people still grow ***** sitting behind their computer monitors jumping to conclusions and calling names needlessly. Which, Kraest, would make you the douche if I'm not mistaken. I'm sorry you got butthurt I was askin ur buddy a question and didn't immediately take his word as that of the lord himself, and instead asked his greatness to explain in further detail. I should not of questioned, just followed blindly. Terribly sorry.
Anyway, I put the Pro 5.0 on there. Probably Lid next. And I've decided to go Dynotech LT's with Bassani's TD system and some High-flow cats. Seeing as thats much more expensive, that'll be a while. And I think I have decided on 4.10s, but that won't be until after the exhaust, so thats even further off, probably after tax returns.
