Is FIPK worth it?

I am considering to buy an FIPK, but i hear alot of different things about them. Some people say it only adds like 5 hp, while others claim it can add 20 hp.. Who is right? and is an FIPK a better mod to do than a lid/filter?

..I did a search for you, you may find some useful info here. If not, there is a concern with heatsoak from the motor...and when the car is standing still your even sucking up more air...there is a mod you can do by removing the windshield washer bottle so the FIPK will get gobs of air...I'm considering the FIPK and building some sort of ram air from below but I'm kinda torn on which way to go..I still really like my SLP lid...good luck

I had the FIPK, and after seeing very high IAT numbers in AutoTap switched back to a lid. The car is just as fast, and the lid is cheaper. The FIPK does look cool and sounds awesome at WOT.

Does removing the bottle do anything? Will I see gains or is this just another myth?

Damn right you'll see gains, but you have to remove the shroud that's underneath the bottle too ... I picked up 2 tenths and 2 mph, when I invented the mod. Plus, you can idle all day with the hood closed and the IAT will only go up about 20* from ambient.

Oh by the way, you will see in the neighboorhood of 20 rwhp gains with the FIPK, over stock ... I saw 22.

...if you really invented that mod to you...as for the IAT, what if you did the timing tricker...would that help?

Its a good mod, but for the money I wouldn't recommend it, your much better off going with a lid and the FTRA from www.fasttoys.net
Both of those should cost about the same as the FIPK and probably give you better track results. As for the dyno, the FTRA won't show any gains on a dyno unless someone had a fan that can replicate 50+mph of air being forced through the FTRA

would be kewl if someone invented a dyno addon for progressive wind... as your car speeds up the fan would push air forwards .. but the hood would have to be shut as well.. could you imagine how ghey it would be to watch yoru hood fly off while the car is sitting still on a dyno!?! hehe

Thats pretty funny if someone popped their hood and the fan blew it off.... actually if it were my car

But that would be a good idea for someone to have a fan that replicates wind by MPH so that we know how much air is going through the system at high speeds.......I wonder if they have something like that in Hollywood?

Let me clarify here ... the FIPK is cheaper than the FTRA ... simple fact.

Once you do the FIPK !FRA in conjunction with the FIPK, your engine will get more air than it ever would with a FTRA - standing still or going 100 mph.

I picked up that 2 tenths and 2 mph with the FIPK !FRA on a car that was already doing 12.3 and 111 with the FIPK.

This may be a dumb question but I will be the idiot to ask it, what the hell does FIPK and FTRA Stand for? Also is there a link or some directions for doing that washer bottle and shroud mod?
