finished my true dual exhaust, and it sounds AWESOME

i just put the hooker long tube headers on and custom built a X pipe and ran true duals over the axle into flowmaster deltaflow 40 series mufflers. the best way i can compare the sound difference is that it sounded like a lawn mower to what it does now. actually sounds similar to a mustang but u can tell it has a lot more power, cant wait to get back to the track with it.

headers were 609 thry summit, mufflers were about 80 a piece thru summit, i bought a x pipe kit thru summit for 170 and the rest was mandrel u bends that i cut and welded together, it took some time to do a nice job but it was so worth it because i LOVE the way it sounds, i have had so many complements from people on the sound. i will see if i can get a sound bite up, and try to get the car on a lft to take pics, i was going to take pics of it b4 i put it on, but i was too anxious to hear it and drive it.

Did u put cats in the mix or no?

I wanted to build the same setup w/cats but was told it was impossible. I even had a guy who was willing to sell the 40 series mufflers for $40 a piece. Could you show me some pics so I can put it in this guys face that my idea was feasible.

Congrats I bet it sounds great

yeah it was definitly possible, and really it wasnt much to do to the car especially since they were not designed for true duals, i will get pics as soon as i have time.
and i didnt put the cats on, i think it might be tough to fit them on there, but it is probably possible.

I have a duel setup that dumps out before the axle, i want to see some pics to see how you got them over the axle. nothing beats the dual sound.

hey phil, what size pipe are you running over the axle, 2.5 or 3 ".
are they on the same side or one pipe per side

would you say the duals sound better than a Borla system? and do they provide good hp gains?

I wanted to do true duals too, but was talked out of it. I was told a single 3" with Y-Pipes flowed better then 2-2.5 inch duals. Also you loose low end torque with duals?? Dunno maybe the headers make up alot of the difference??

both statements are false.. Do a search here, or at ls1.com i forget, but someone has dyno graphs of right before and after true duals. He only gained minimal amounts at the top end... but gained tons in the low and mid ranges.

also, simple math and physics will show you 2 2.5 inche pipes will outflow a single 3 inch pipe.
