Smile finally got some dyno numbers

With the mods below and 3100 miles.
314 RWHP
329.5 TORQUE
I'm running rich even with the SLP mass air. A/F was 11.5.

With the 15% loss for m6 that is 361 HP at the flywheel.

Drivetrain Loss is 10% for M6s and 12% for A4s. Nice numbers.

You sure?

I have always heard 15% for manuals and 18% for autos.

Have any factual information to back that up?

General rule is: manual: 15%, auto: 20%, I'm sure 90% of the people here will agree...and BTW, there is no exact % loss, one M6 may lose 14% while another will lose 17% and another will lose XX%, they're not all the same.

Nice numbers knight, and yeah, you'll definitely put down some more power if you can lean that out a bit. Also, your motor is still breaking in with only 3100 miles.

I'm very happy with my numbers. I'm making what I should with my mods. I'm gonna have a Magnaflow muffler with Fasttoys stainless Z28 tips installed in the mext month. When I get around 10,000 miles I will have it dynoed again.

Great #'s for just a lid & MAF. Just for comparison, my Onyx Black '02 M6 Z28 put out 323rwhp & 342rwtq SAE corrected at 2,057 miles with only a Direct-Flo lid and GMMG cat-back with an A/F ratio of 12 flat. I'm going to try and tune the AFR on the dyno with the MAFT I just bought in a few weeks to see how much more power I can pull out of a mostly "stockish" car. Since your not getting a full cat-back, I'd recommend a cutout for your stock I-pipe for that extra flow when needed on the dyno or at the track. And since your running even richer than I am, a mass air flow translator(MAFT) would really help you gain some more power. Try and shoot for an AFR of 12.9-13.1 or so.

Good luck!

Mike

if you still have the stock maf i would switch back to it and try it see if it gets your a/f right and it would net you another 5 hp i bet

With the Slp mass air the car feels so much stronger in the mid to high rpms. It does however feel weaker at low rpm's. At the shop I got it dynoed at I wanted to swap in my stock mass air on the second run but that would of costs me twice the $$. Even for the few mins it takes to change out the mass air. The owner charges a total of $75 for 2 baseline runs with a A/F ratio tested during the runs. For $150 you can use the dyno for hour and exchange parts at will and dyno as much as you want. I'm not going with a full catback because I hate all the tips on the systems except the B&B but that's way to much money and there to quiet of a exhaust. The SLP should have leaned my car out some to gain more power than it did. Maybe it did some and I was running even richer with the stock mass air? I thought about getting a cutout but I don't go to the track and a electric one would be the only one I would want. I rode in another LS1 a few weeks ago and the guy had a electric cutout and opened it up on the highway and it sounded cool and the whole idea of it sounds so cool.

For that $150 you would know if that MAF is doing you any harm or not.. not psysical harm as much as just making you lose power like the filter you have is..

See my dyno numbers? Thats bone stock.. nada.. and I have tested lids. Lid alone puts me at 320+ paper filter.. That Holley is robbing you of some power.

As for the percentage lost, most in the know tend to think its at about 10% for the M6.

That still isnt bad when you consider its only supposed to have 310 total hp according to the underestimated ratings..

In any case, any good dyno shop should do A/F with your pulls. I am thinking that many shops dont have much competition cause here we get 2 pulls for $35 - $40 and the dyno for an hour for $125.

My car runs too lean as well.. but bone stock they are supposed to be.

- edit - Just re-read this post and I did it when I just woke up so sorry if it sounds like I am being mean.. just trying to help!

Nice numbers. Get a catback and 2.5in y-pipe and you should gain a good bit more rwhp. I changed the oil on a 00 Z28 the other day and couldnt believe how crimped flat the driver side part of the y-pipe was. Changing to a better flowing y-pipe should do you good.

I don't see how my Holley filter would be restrictive and the stock would outflow it? A 11.5 A/F is running very rich not lean. The mass air should have made me run leaner. The place I got it dynoed was the cheapest where I live. One other shop around me charges $45 for just one run and another $100 for 2 runs and they don't do as a complex test for the A/F like the place I took the car to. When I get another few thousand miles I will have it dynoed again. I've heard there's not really anything to gain going with a aftermarket Y pipe. Plus I live in Cali with the smog ****'s and also don't want to void any of my warranty. A magnaflow muffler is the only other hp mod I'm gonna do to the car. Back to running rich I'm not really surprised about this because my gas mileage really sucks at 15 mpg. I might try putting the stock mass air on for a while and see how my mileage goes.
