Talking FINALLY got my car on the dyno!

Went to Dallas today to the new Lingenfelter authorized shop 21st Century Musclecars. It was outstanding. I got to see so many great cars from Z06's, ZR1's and even an LT4 to a Ferrari 550 (391/348) and even a Renntech SL74, ohh, and those Viper thingys too. Great day indeed.

As for my car, well, I am quite happy with my numbers.
2 passes.
1st pass was 307 rwhp and 328 rwtq
2nd pass was 306 rwhp and 327 rwtq
Intake temp was 103
A/F shows I was running a little rich
Not too bad for bone stock. NOTHING done.. NOT even free mods. It was excellent. About what I had hoped for and better than expected.
The car should see the track by next week and then I will post its bone stock times. Even the dyno tech was saying that it was sick and wrong how Z28's just show their power so well.
In any case, it was neat to see such sweet cars and even in the heat there were cars showing 500+ on the dyno with Lingenfelters twin turbo showing over 620!

Now to keep this in the tech section, since I was running rich on a stock car, how would I go about correcting this? It wasnt VERY rich, just a little? Would this be something I should worry about as I add goodies like exhaust(headers) and intake?
TIA

Cool

I think things like a lid,maf ends, and exhaust lean you up a little automatically. So that might make you just right.Sweet numbers by the way

That is damn impressive for a stock car, IMO!! Also, it'll be nice to know exactly how much you gain from every piece you put on your car (or remove?! or replace?! ) I'm looking forward to seeing your track times too --- I feel ripped off that my car only ran 14.1, but I think that was more to do with track conditions?? I'm curious to see the difference between A4 and M6 when completely stock - assuming comparable track conditions and driver error and what not!

Geez, this makes me want to take my car to get dyno'd! Not to win any "highest stock HP" prize or anything, but just for curiousity's sake!

Well, good numbers buddy! Now let's see some track times!

Capn Pete, you must be at a high elevation to be running 14.1...

Psycho, headers and exhaust will make your car run rich. Intake mods will lean it out. Overall, you will need tuning to correct your A/F ratios. Autotap reads and LS1Edit writes. You could also try a MAFT.

I need to quit looking at LS1 Tech posts like this, cause it makes me sick. Great numbers!!! One more reason for me to put the Z in the muscle car trader and look for a LS1!!

Well, I want to do a dyno run for every mod just so I know the progress I am making..

I wasnt super rich but it was in the low 12's high 11's although that isnt good in any case.

I will try the lid, then powershot filter, then add a ramair to see how things progress.

Look for my track times by next week. I think we are having the Super Chevy races this coming week so it may be a good time to run.

Not too shabby!

That's pretty impressive! My 98 A4 put down 314, 328 with a lid, cutout, and filter. Yours is bone stock

Damned LS6 intakes

EDIT: Playing with the new software

thanks, another thing I noticed was that my car wasnt spewing things like smoke or any visible emissions.. is that because I am stock and the motor is new or what?

Just curious about that since mine and the ferrari were the only ones not spewing.

I cant wait till I get to the track to see if I can get a 13.1 or so...

Cool

Sounds Great. Those LS-6 intakes must really make a difference.

But isnt my cam different too? I was looking for it to show some more drastic flaws but I cant find any yet. Not saying my car is all that, but I am very impressed with its powerplant.

From reading on here, I was lead to think that I am losing power or something because my "truck" cam is what lets me have all that power down low that the 98-00's didnt have.

So what is it? With their cam would my car make more RWHP but my TQ not show up so early? (2300-2400 rpm I was in the 290-300's for RWTQ)

So is it the LS6 intake or is it the cam or a combination of the two that make this motor what it is??

Any insights?

How many miles did you have on the car when you Dyno'd it?

I brought my 2002 SS to the Dyno with about 900 miles on the odometer and it pulled 309HP on a Mustang Dyno - bone stock. Everybody keeps telling me, wait till you put some miles on the car.

3280 if I am not mistaken..

Arent Mustang dynos notorious for dynoing a little lower? If so, then I am really curious to see what you would pull on a Dynojet!

Thumbs up

Wow. Nice pull. I gotta find me a dyno. Mine is stock aside from a K&N and approaching 40,000 miles. I went to the track at 39,000 miles and ran 13.6 on a hot and humid day. Yours will probably do better. In terms of mixture, I think your computer will compensate for most mods you do. Keep us posted...

Your A/F ratio is very normal for a stock LS1 - designed that way to preserve your cats and minimize the risk of detonation. Best way to change it is with LS1 edit or a MAFT. The MAFT is cheaper, naturally. HPP with the power tuning trying to do it too, but you have no control over how it precisely does it, so isn't as good.

My TA pulled 329.7 and 342.6 with lid and catback

With 2800 KM on the odometer.

Nice numbers, should've asked for a ride in the twin turbo
