F-body Potential

I have seen a few more threads than usual lately about how the F-body stacks up against other cars, is it a good design, are the engines really that great, etc. I thought I would post this up for some interesting information for you guys. Last February a Stock Eliminator driver named Al Corda set the first sub 10 second pass at a national event for a Stock Eliminator class car with a 9.974 in a 2001 Firebird. Stock Eliminator is a very strict class as far as mods go. no wider than a 9" tire, no porting, etc. You can do stuff like upgrade shocks, but you can't change their location or mounting. That type of stuff. Granted this car is set up to be a drag car only, but just goes to show the potential of the Fbody engine and platform. They have since made a seperate class for the fuel injected cars since they are way more consistant than a carb'd car and it was getting uncompetitive. Some other cars that run that low.... Hemi cudas, hemi darts, 427 (iron and steel) camaros. Pretty good company for a 5.7 small block. With enough money, you can make anything fast, but sub 10's in stock eliminator is about as rare as you get.

Question

What was done to that '01 Firebird to get it under 10 seconds?
