Exhaust System
Exhaust System
Hey Guys;
I'm going to be buying an exhaust system soon, and I've heard about some of the more popular ones, but I want the best for the buck system.
I've heard of:
Flowmaster
Borla (I Think?)
Corsa
Catback
I'm probably missing some, but which are the better and more affordable ones? Thanks.

loudmouth....loud and cheap
i had it but it got too loud for me....
id go with a borla(as i have it right now)
the sound at idle is minimal then when you get on it it screams....with the plates open of course....
with the borla u have plates to change the intensity of the sound
borla

Bang for the buck, the best is the loud mouth as stik6shift98 said. It has all the qualities of a champion exhaust like a reasonable price for a stainless system, but it is too loud for many people. I would personally go with the Borla myslef. However, the catback price is not friendly at all. Slightly cheaper would be the random technologies stainless syetem.

I've got the corsa system, a bit expensive......But everytime I fire her up and look at those tips, it reminds me of money well spent.
Also Borla is also one of the more expensive catbacks.
Some cheap ones to look at are. Loudmouth, Magnaflow, Hooker, and thats all I can think of off the top of my head

Wow, I don't know why folks are saying LM is 'bang for the buck'...
Not true.
If you want bang for the buck, you have 3 choices:
1) Muffler only (makes as much power as a cat-back on all but the most modded cars, dyno proven)
2) Cut-out (sounds like ***)
3) Dynomouth (mine was $140 installed, beat that with an LM)
Couple fine points:
The Flowmaster doesn't flow for crap... 350 cfm
If you go with muffler only, don't let the exhaust shop take out any mandrel bends. Most shops don't have mandrel benders.
The absolute best flowing aftermarket muffler you can get is the one used in the Dynomouth... 2200 cfm
The best sounding exhaust you can get is Dynomouth.
I have info and sound clips of the Dynomouth on page 2 of my site.
Good luck with whatever you do

well from the information that I did get from ratio411 and the sound clips from his website, I am going to be doing a Dynomouth setup on my z28.. Loudmouth sounds great but it would just be annoying after awhile but the Dynomouth sounds better and from what I have heard from the clips that it is pretty quiet at Idle compared to a LM but when you start of WOT dynomouth sounds like a race car....
one question I have to ratio411 or anyone that has LM or Dynomouth..
Do you lose any lower end torque because since there is hardly any if no back pressure compared to Stock ?? I know the LS1 does not make great low end power but there is some...

FWIW, the best souding system is just an opinion.
There is a reason why some people get Borla, some Corsa, some Loudmouth, some Dynomouth, some use cutouts, etc etc etc.
Personally I wouldn't trade my Corsa system for anything else, I love the sound and the looks, i've also got a cutout which hits the spot when I feel like go really loud.
