Exhaust mods, good or bad effect on mileage ?

Re: Exhaust mods, good or bad effect on mileage ?
At first my MPG was terrible until I had it tuned, via LS1 Edit. Then the MPG was and still is incredible. I get about 25-28 mpg on the HW. (6th gear at 1500 rpm)
From what I was told, and I've never heard any objections to this. When you install the LT's, they flow more and the o2's pick up on this and the comp will richen the mixture to compensate.

I'm thinking about keeping the stock manifolds in my LS1 chevelle project to cut down on cost and get good MPG as I want to make it a high miles daily driver.

The LS1 Get's good mileage, It just depends on how you drive and what mods you have.
An LS1 W/ LT's and a tune can get as good, if not better mileage than a stocker...Again, depends on how you drive.

I know ! That is why I dont want to do any mods that will hurt my MPG.

I just sold my truck because of bad mileage, I want my project to be at least better than that.
Performance wise.. an LS1 cant be worse than the stock 307 that came in it.

Not bustin *****, but if you want a project you've gotta pay to play in some aspects. If you want MPG, than don't mod it. If you're worried about MPG loss on headers, I wouldn't go any more in depth than that, then. -Catback, a lid and TB...

I bought my LS1 camaro for milage. I was getting 11 mpg / 13 mpg highway. Now milage is 18/26 with 4.10:1 gears.
If you put headers on an LS1, I can gaurantee you milage will go down for at least the first two or three tanks. It's going to sound to good to keep your foot out of it.
