Anyone care to comment on that?
Which Z06 cam? The LS6 (01-04 Z06) or the LS7 (06+ 7.0L)? I think he's quite confused The older 02-04 LS6 cams are popular for mild forced induction builds, and for those looking for cheap N/A power from a cam swap - 8 years ago. Today there are better options than the LS6 cam, and you won't meet your power goal with an LS6 cam. Or maybe they meant the LS7 cam as they do have offset rockers. Either way, forget you heard about any of it. No matter what you do, get something a little bigger than the old TR224.

Re: Exhaust help..good suggestions?

Ok, so far this will be happening in the next couple of months;
SLP lid, LT's+exhaust, sub-frame connectors, possibly LS6 intake if I can find one 'moderately priced', stall and cam.

Just glad that even at 150k miles, the car runs like new considering the head work that was done by the previous owner. I walked all over my friends 2006 GT (manual, plus he's a better driver in his car than I am in mine since it's new to me) from a dig, and my tires are going bald.

Oh and yes marc, he mentioned offset rockers so LS7. I'll toss that idea away then if that's the case.

So a 228/228?

Might buy the cam sometime soon which is why I'm trying to figure it all out even though it won't be installed for a few months.

What? I thought you said the car was stock? What's done to the heads?

Should've been specific

Just new valves, gaskets and so forth. The car is completely stock.

Previous owner wanted his valves adjusted and apparently the mechanic just recommended he replace them since the car was high-mileage (147k when it was done). Got the invoice and it was $3.1k for everything but that includes tune-up too like oil change, spark plugs, even o2 sensors.

Car is in tip top shape.

Re: Exhaust help..good suggestions?

Regarding long tube headers, should I bother with any of these?

Pacesetter (should I bother with these?) - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Paces...item53e811542b

Ebay #1 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CAMAR...item336b4b8e0c

Ebay #2 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-02...item27bde11b8a

There are two reasons why I would go forth with an ebay pipe/headers;

1. I bought a 3" catless downpipe awhile back for another car I had and the welds were good and the downpipe held up pretty well and fit to OEM specs.

2. I ran across some threads/posts about others using ebay headers with great success.

So, which option would you go with and why?

If someone has a set of long tube headers for my LS1 98 WS6 for sale I might be interested.

I would go with the pacesetter headers as the majority of people agree that they are the best bang for buck. I really don't trust much from eBay but thats just the way I am. My friend just recently ordered a header/ypipe combo for pretty cheap I'll PM you the link so you can check it out.

Re: Exhaust help..good suggestions?

Ordered the Pacesetter Long tube's yesterday, can't wait until they're here!

In the meantime, I bought some C5 rims (265x17 up front, 295x18 in the rear). Still need to get my hood sanded and clear coated again...damn clear coat is peeling.

That's a clean looking ride. Did you also order a y pipe or are you going to go with the true dual setup?

Thanks! Within the first 10 minutes I've already received compliments. My wife loves the way it sits however she says I should get the hood fixed up before anything else.

I know of two shops that can do custom exhaust work for cheap;

1. The place that I'm getting my headers installed, owned by my friend and his dad. Says he can make me a custom Y

2. This reputable muffler shop that I've had work done for other cars, awesome at bending their own pipes

I'm still on the fence about going true dual or Y and keep my factory muffler.

It sounds mean but I do like the aesthetics offered by dual tips, and the sound a true dual will yield.

Guess I might go with a true dual once I have more 'play' money available. I might run straight headers in the meantime once they arrived and they're installed.

You don't need to have a true dual setup to get dual tips. The majority of 4th gens come with dual tips and just a crossflow muffler. Running open headers will be obnoxiously loud well at least to me it is, my friend is running his lq4 with headers and y pipe while he thinks about what to do with the rest of the exhaust and it is very loud.

Oh I know that dual tips isn't because of a true dual setup....I had a '94 Z28 before this WS6.

I don't know what muffler I'd go with or if I should keep the stock muffler. That's what I'm on the fence about.

Re: Exhaust help..good suggestions?

Ordered an SLP lid as well as strut brace. Should be here at the same time the Pacesetter's get here.

Next to buy are sub-frame connectors (weld-in style).

Not sure what else afterward. Think I've spent enough these past 2-3 days, at least in my wife's eyes (especially after these Z06 rims w/Goodyear F1's)

Got my lid last Friday and it's installed.

Tomorrow my UMI strut brace arrives. After I sell my WS6 rims and other misc. stuff I'll get the long tube's installed as well as the electric cut out I recently bought and some subframe connectors.
