exhaust

I have a magnaflow exhaust on a 02 z28 (5.7). Pacesetters seem to be good bang for the buck, but it seems to good to be true. $500 for headers and y pipe? I'd like header and y pipe set to last a least 2-3 years with moderate driving. About 10-12,000 miles/year, drivin hard on weedends. Can pacesetters handle that? Can I mix and match headers and y pipes. Stainless works headers and a cheaper y pipe for example?

Re: exhaust

I think you can mix and match, but dont think for a second that pacesetters arent great headers. The ceramic coating will make them stay pretty for years, but the non coated will turn ugly rust outside, but wont rust through for many years. Stainless is WAY to expensive to pay for if you ask me. The only reason I have stainless headers is because I bought them for 200 used.

Re: exhaust

Where do you live?
I ran uncoated headers for 12 years on my daily driver 70 SS and they were a few years old when I got the car, but I don't live up north where the roads are salted either. My uncoated Macs are holding up great. They're ~3 years old and still haven't develope much rust. Just in the ball flange area. Headers won't rust away as quicly as people want to believe.

Can you run other Y-'s? Depends. From flow tech to hooker to Jet hot you can because they're the same basic header design. Pacesetter to hooker would require some modifications I would think. Total different manufacturers there. The collectors are probably not going to be in the same place.

$500 isn't too good to be true if you've ever had a 1st, or 2nd gen. You can get headers for them for $80.

Re: exhaust

Pacestter seems to have proved many nay-sayers wrong when it comes to fitment, performance and value. I would go with them on a street car in a second.
