Question Exhaust

hey -- just a few quick ?s -- i own a 1997 Camaro Z28 M6, and currently my exhaust system just isn't cutting it. I have just the Flowmaster muffler & slant tips (not full american thunder).........yes.........flowmaster... I do like the sound, but it could be louder - especially at idle (more like SLP loudmouth). Flowmaster was more of a quick fix when i purchased the car 8 months ago, and i unfortunately was not familiar with camaroz28.com until now........ so thats where i stand now -- ive been considering SLP Loudmouth, but my friend has taht on his car, and once he added headers and hi-flo cats, it really got bad IMO.....decent idle, ok driving, bad rasp when reved (and i dont want to dish out the money for LM) so im considering the cheap way out, w/ a dynomax. I understand how this setup works completely (thanks to other user diagrams and info), however i have not heard it on an LT1 (any clips out there?) I guess what im really trying to get at is how will the Dynomouth setup sound over my current flowmaster? Is it worth the $150? sorry for all the ?s, i have done my research but just cant seem to find the asnwers i want.

summary: dynomouth setup louder than just a flowmaster 80 muffler?

thanks! -Fred

Fred,
My understanding from reading posts on this forum is that there isn't a whole heckuva lot of difference performance-wise b/t FlowMasters and most of the other competitors. A handful of guys are starting to circle their wagons around the Hooker exhaust system setup.

But, if all you want is loudness, go with the LoudMouth. Anything less and you'll have buyers' remorse, so save up til you can afford it and get what you REALLY want.

For a complete exhaust system, you're gonna have to pony-up with headers, hi-flow catalytic converters and high cfm (cubic feet/min) mufflers. My last $.02 of advice: save up and get what you want and what's best for your LT-1 in lieu of getting components that you're likely to replace (or want to replace) at sometime in the future.

Don't stress over it; go slow and build it right!

buyer's remorse........i know the feeling thanks 4 the speedy reply. i guess i will spend the money on LM -- i have enough, saw the sale for $299, anyone heard of a better price anywhere? and also, i did my muffler install myself, should i be aware of any problems w/ LM besides to use the adapter kit for LT1? thanks! fred
