What are the differences between an LS1, LS6, LT1, LT4, and TPI. I'm pretty sure that they are all 5.7L, but I can't figure out what makes them different from each other, other than intake manifolds. What kind of performance differences does each one have?
I know its kind of a big question, but everyone I've asked has never given me a straight answer.
Thanks for any help in clearing up the differences.

TPI motor is your basic small block fitted with fuel injection. This was used in the 80s.
Then in 92 the LT1 was released. Its basially a TPI motor with a better intake manifold and igntion system. The LT4 is just a LT1 with better heads, cam and a 4 bolt block.
The LS1 is a totally different design. It shares nothing with the older generation small blocks. It has good flowing heads, even better igntion, and a broader powerband. It also has an aluminum block. The LS6 is what the LT4 was to the LT1. It is essentially a LS1 with better heads and cam.
