engine whining noise

engine whining noise

I have a 2000 Z (124,000 miles), and lately I have noticed a sound coming from the front part of the motor. I suspect it to be the Water Pump but not sure. Has anyone had the same sound?

If it's only on cold starts and stops after a couple minutes might just be the air pump cycling, it's under the LF headlight area.

Sprayed the rear of water pump with silicone and the noise went away. I guess the water pump bearings are going out. Time for a new pump!!
