THe Corvette has an LS1 and comes filled from the Factory with Mobil 1 synthetic.

from Chevrolet.com : Recommended lubricant 5W/30 Mobil 1 synthetic or equivalent

go to: http://www.chevrolet.com/corvette/po...ecs/index.html
scroll down to the bottom and look under ENGINE SPECIFICATIONS

Handbook says to use synthetic in extremely cold conditions for the F-body. I heard that the Corvette has needed syn since the engine bay runs hotter. Not sure if I believe that for the LS1, LTs in the Vette had no room for a oil cooler which the LT Camaro did have, so that was the start of the difference.

I live in NY and use Synthetic year round, you shouldn't switch back and forth between Syn and reg. I say just use Mobil 1, that is what I'm using, the LS1 is built to use it, the only reason Camaro didn't get Mobil 1 factory fill is because GM is cheap

The 02 SS Camaro came with synthetic oil as factor fill. Go here.
And look at SS performance packagehttp://www.gmcanada.com/english/vehi...a_details.html

Well I have to say, I ran conventional oil from 10,000 miles in my car and I switched over to Mobil 1 and I am never looking back especially since the switch, my engine is not as noisy at start up..

The reason they use sythetic in the vettes is because the corvette ls1 doesnt have an oil cooler so the oil will run hotter. Synthetic doesnt break down as easily as does regulaer and since our cars have an oil cooler gm determined regular oil would cut it. I guess that is the main reason but i still use sythetic in my TA and i will never change it. Runs better smoother and the oil comes out clean at 3000 when i hange it.

How would synthetic oil in your engine not get as dirty as regular oil?
