My friend had his 01 Z28 at the dealer twice for the enigne light on. Both times they said No Problem Found and no codes stored. I saw the light on myself the first time.

I am OBD2 ignorant and want to know if the light will come on and NOT store a code? I have a generic scanner (Autoxray) and confirmed there were none stored AFTER he got it back. I will check again after (or hopefully while) the next the light is on.

It is bone stock with 6000 miles

Depending on the scanner it may not show the codes with manufacturer datastream. Sometimes you have to use the generic obd2 mode on the scanner to get codes that don't show up in vehicle specific mode.
