I am making a road trip to Rio Grande Valley on the 20th, and my favorite top speed test-road is on the way. Theres room to top out and more....nothing but open stretch.
I'll let you guys know. I wish I had a separate speedometer to know how fast Im going...but at least I can take along my little printout showing RPMvsMPH and know once I finish.
Hope fully I can get 6th to keep pulling. The chart says when I shift into 6th after topping out 5th....I'll be right around 4000-4100 rpms in 6th....that should be enough to keep pulling...hopefully the front doesnt try to lift. If it does Im just going to have to abort the mission. (Houston, we have a problem!)
I have been wondering what all I can do to make the car more stable at high speeds(150+)
I am good at working with aluminum...I wonder if making a belly pan for it would help at all.....

If your vehicle came with NON Z rated tires your speed limiter was set to 117 MPH. The vehicle can not be produced from the factory with speeds exceeding the tires rating.

Re: Engine Cuts at 120
thats funny.... my car can hit 180+... not that i would know or anything
its kinda hard to calculate how fast you are going when the needle is pegged for 10 seconds and still pulling.

That is my 2002 Z-28 doing a 3-4-5 gear pull on a dynojet. It shut off at 158.1 (the computer said 162 when I had the limiter removed), so it appears to be a slight speedometer error and a 162 mph limiter. I had the Eagle RSA's (really slide around or really suck a$$, not sure which) on mine as well (245/50-16).
Have fun and be safe!
