Engine "Q" from downunder.
Australia has been running the LS1 for about 12mths or more now, and I'm hearing one thing over and over again. The engines are blowing up after about 6-8000 miles. The engines are throwing rods out, the pistons bores are becoming ovals. Is anyone over there seeing these problems, or heard of them happening. Lucky for me I own a 3rd Gen, good old cast iron L98 doesn't have to worry about these problems.
I'm just puzzled why ours seem to be doing this, is it because Holden has detuned them (don't ask I don't understand either), or is it our oil, enviroment, ect ect.

Where are the motors coming from. are they being made there? or are they coming from here? I do know of that problem here. I am sure someone has had it happen. but its not a problem. by the way are they stock motors?

There have been some cases of that happening
here. The one problem that I know about is
the oil relief valve in the oil pump
sticking open. The metal relief valve is in
an aluminum bore, it wears a notch in the
bore then sticks open. The engineers have
been working on it for a couple years now.
I asked in a meeting about putting a steel
sleeve in the pump, I'm told that they have
a better solution.
I'm a manufacturing engineer for General
Motors Powertrain.

"Zdriven" Have you heard about the problems over here. And to answer the other "Q's", stock motors crate from over there. Holden have apparently developed a new piston for the motor so it will last, but I have only heard that on the rumour mill, have you heard anything about this??
