I was looking at Pacesetters, and I was thinking of going with a cutout rather than my LM and get these headers and only cost an extra like $100....however, I am in MA and my emissions is pretty strict. If I need an ORP, that means that I have no cats, right? Do I NEED a ORP for these headers? They say that all the AIR and EGR fittings are there, but I need to know about the cats, cuz I need them here....

 

you can have a custom y pipe made, and put a cat in it, but depending on the laws in your state, moving the cat will make you fail.

preferred. But as said before, make sure moving the cats isnt illigal. I know it is in NJ so I would either double check the laws or find a gas station that doesnt care.

No. You can not install any LT or midlength headers without moving the cats. The only headers that can be done on any F-body and be 100% legal with federal/EPA/your states guidlines are shortie headers like JBA. Problem is you have a 2001 so your stock intake is as good as shorties. You'd gain maybe 1 or 2 rwhp and that is hardly worth the expense and hassle IMO.

Now the real question should be wether or not there is a testing station near you that does not do visual inspections. If you get a Pacesetter LT headers and fab a Y-pipe with a pair of good aftermarket HF cats then you should pass a OBDII test, sniffer test or even the treadmill sniffer test. The only way you should fail if you use decent HF cats is if they visually inspect under your car, know where the cats were supposed to be and care that the cats are no longer in that position.

Go to a TnT night at your closest 1/4 mile track and I'll bet if you talk to some f-bod owners you'll be givin some very helpful hints on where to get the car tested.

Then how did I easily pass emissions in my LT1 with my mid length headers, AS&Ms? I didn't have to move the cat at all.....

 

Ok so there is a spot for the 2ndary Air pump!? I put them on and I have two hoses that were on the header and can't put them anywhere, now my car is slower and throwing a damnable code!! wtf!!

 

Because a 95 single cat LT1 isn't the same as a 98-02 LS1 with 2 cats.
