Electric water pump worth the $$$
Re: Electric water pump worth the $$$
nobody seems to be doing it, probably due to cost.
i have yet to see a true write up or dyno test of the pump. kindda sucks. i'm sure it helps some, i mean if the electric wp for the LT1 gains you about 10hp...why wouldn't the ls1 respond?
you could always swap out the 1.7rockers for 1.8s? if your springs can handle it.

Re: Electric water pump worth the $$$
The only dyno sheet I've seen on the Meziere LS1 unit showed +5 hp/tq increase across the RPM range. They do work, but they're damn expensive for what you get out of them...
Maybe go to a bigger cam instead?

Re: Electric water pump worth the $$$
I have a Lt-1 and when I did an electric pump I did not notice any SOTP differance or see any differance on the dyno. I would not waste the money unless there is something wrong with your stock pump. I do not regret buying the pump b/c it was cheaper than a stock replacement.
Re: Electric water pump worth the $$$
Not much bang-for-the-buck from the H2O pump swap.
I'd spend my money elsewhere. What are you running for shocks? Perhaps a set of QA1's are in your future?

Re: Electric water pump worth the $$$
Get the HALS and the springs up front then. Well worth the money. You need the nose to pop up fast to transfer the weight to the rear. HALS and springs are an easy install and really helped my 60 ft. Also consider some LCA's, another cheap, easy mod.

Skip the 3500, my 4200 is still very streetable, I gained a full second with that mod over a stock one :-) Just my 2 cents! I just did 3:73's, hoping for 11's when I get back to the track. I'll do a water pump sometime, but it is way down on my list. Really not until I have done about everything else.
Good luck!

i've heard of gaining a 1/2 second from them but a second is just outrageous
did you do any mods at the same time, like suspension mods, to put that power to the ground?
Re: Electric water pump worth the $$$
Definitely look into getting a set of QA1's on the front. You have an SS, which I believe has a nice Bilstein shock that's more "road course" than "drag strip". The QA1 & spring setup will improve your weight transfer considerably, just as Ed mentioned in his post.
Good luck.

Re: Electric water pump worth the $$$
I already had QA1's and springs, with headers, and my best time was 12.97, then I did the convertor and did 12.4 banging the rev limiter. I rasied it and killed TM with LS1 Edit and got a 12.06, still stock suspension except for QA1's :-)
I might not have done the 12.06 without the shocks and springs, the nose really pops up and plants the rear with the shocks. I am not using the 90/10 shocks since mine is still a street car. After that I added all the BMR goodies with no noticable improvement in my times.
I'd still do the front shocks and springs and go from there. Like I said, I love my SS 4200. :-) Hits real hard and is still very driveable.

you have an a4 definentaly go for the 3:73's you should see at least 3-4 tenths. Also a bigger cam is in order depending on how aggressive you want it rapid motorsports has a good package with a .564 lift at 114 lsa.
