EGR gasket? Blocking of my EGR...

I just installed my Pacesetters last night and was wondering....

I have blocked off the AIR and I bought a blockoff plate for the EGR.

I would think I need to use a gasket on it...is there someone who makes/sells them because there wont be a part # because the stock gasket is made to fit around the EGR tube and expands when you put it on the tube that goes down into the intake...so it is too small, and will basically just fall into my intake manifold.

So I am thinking SOMEONE has to have some sort of gasket for blocking off the EGR, since I know of a few places that sell the blockoff plates, just no gasket for it.

for the time being I made my own gasket because I have to have my car this weekend but would like something purpose-built because the I dont trust the one I made to last for than a couple months.

thanks

Chris

i'm assuming you mean the hole on the top of the intake manifold...

there is no block off for that that i'm aware of other than using a standard 1 3/8th inch block plug from any auto store

it has a bolt in the center and it expands the rubber grommet...sealing it and looking relatively decent to boot

check out the pic on the header install page of my website in the sig...i have a pic

Cool, I picked one up at AutoZone for $3.99

Looks pretty good....Maybe I can change out the washer and nut for shiny ones to make it look pretty....the ones I got are kindof an ugly yellow color.

Any chance of this thing breaking in 5 or 10 years and that little nub on the bottom falling into my intake and having a party in my engine? Scary thought... a $3.99 part causing $500+ of damage

I already have it on there, was just curious.

probably less likely than spinning a beariing or bending a pushrod while racing.

i think i'm gonna figure a way to paint mine...unless i just get the LS6 intake like i want

Chris, I know this doesn't really have anything to do with yours, but Teke, skip the LS6 intake and jump to the LSX intake manifold from FAST... what a sexy set-up... not only better horsepower just from the design for flow, but extra horsepower because there is no heat insulation on it? very nice...

teke....I just tried to install the plug that they gave me and realized its only 1 1/4!

I called them and they said they dont have that size..

The same for NAPA, Oreillys and Pep Boys.

What the heck? What auto store did you get yours from?

Whats the part #?

I really need this as I am stuck here with no EGR and I got to go to school on Monday! Its my last three days then I graduate and get my degree!

I drove 30 mins to find out hey didnt have it at NAPA after they told me they did(he thought i was talking about a brass freeze plug.....daumbass, i TOLD him RUBBER)

I am in good with a guy at Autozone and he told me that no Autozone will have it. They all stock the same parts.

He said the 1/4 "expands from 1 1/4 to 1 3/8" Well duh! I need one that is already 1/38!

Man I thought I had this taken care of lol.

please help! I could "rig" it but I dont want to do that to my baby

So where did you get yours?

I dont want to put the EGR back on because 1. its "cluttery" and 2. I dont have it anymore

plus...GOOD NEWS!

I found that GM has a part number for it! Part # 12558346
Its for the 6.0 (LM7?) trucks but it fits from what I hear from my friend

Im going to go get it today or tomorrow.

im glad it worked out...I even get to use GM stuff

It has a rubber seal too, it looks kinda like the EGR, and has a rubber seal that looks like I wont ever have to worry about it leaking.

Thanks though.
