Dynomouth or Loudmouth?
Dynomouth or Loudmouth?
I am looking into getting an exhaust.. I don't want to spend alot of money and I don't want anything that isn't supper loud, that's just my taste. I heard alot of good and bad about the loudmouth. I heard it's real loud but kinda sounds raspy and unrefined. I heard the Dynomouth is also supper loud but with the bullet style muffler, it kinda makes its sound more refined and cleaner. Another question, how do these sound at Idle, which is louder?
I had the loudmouth for over a year... I got tired of it being loud all the time. I also didnt like the tips. Now I have slp "2 out the left" looks sweet. It is quiet so I am going to get an electric cutout. I wish I did this with my stock dual/dual exhaust....would have saved me alot of money....go for a cutout and spend the money on other things.....just my opinion
I have the loud mouth and I like the way it sounds. I have heard that the GMMG is as loud as the LM but sounds more refined. That is the one I would have chosen except it cost $700 instead of $300 for the Loudmouth.
Before I had the LM I had a Flowmaster 80 series muffler with a stock I pipe. I did notice a SOP gain from changing exhaust.
Good Luck,
Al

Dynomouth all the way. $150.00 installed and it is loud and refined sounding without being obnoxious loud and raspy. You'll still get most of the loudmouth performance gain but IMHO a better sound that won't get your neighbors ready to hang you if you sometimes leave early or come home late.
I have a dynomouth exhaust. It does sound really loud when you get on it, but I like it because it sounds deep and mean
. It dosen't Idle really loud. The Idle just has a really deep rumble. Mine is problebly about 2 times louder than the flowmaster muffler at idle.

Dynomouth Sounds great and if you are really worried about being too loud and you do plan to go w/ Headers and/or ORY Pipe, then I suggest 18" Bullet Muffler.. I did this since I do plan on getting LT Headers as soon as I decide to spend the $$ on them, but w/ stock manifolds and Y-pipe, it is a little quieter then 12" bullet but you will notice it over stock since the DM has a Deep Rumble that sounds great but again like the 12" Bullet, it will scream and sound like a 454 Race Boat.. <-- Best description that anyone has ever commented about how my car sounds...

The L/M isnt all that loud like people make it out to be... its once u put the headers on when it gets loud, even then i bet its worked up... Next weekend im putting on Hooker Shorties, Ypipe and removing cats and i bet it will sound mean, not raspy or unrefined at all. mine as just the catback right now sounds nice and refined, not raspy at all. It has a different sound then a mufflered exhaust but it sounds good.... i used to have a flowmaster and then a Borla Adjustable and i picked up two tenths at the track with the loudmouth..
And another thing, i went around seeing how much a shop would charge to do a custom l/m style exhaust and they made it sound like it would a very difficult task and wanted to charge me alot. cant remember exactly, but enough as to where i was better off just buying a catback and bolting it on myself in 30 minutes. Also, some shops can do some sorry custom pipe bending. Ive seen some sorry bending going over the rear axle, i wouldnt trust anyone to do all that bending... i bet it would sound like azz when they were done due to turblance from odd shaped bending..
Sounds like you just had a bad experience with not-so-professional exhaust people. When I did my dynomouth I was quoted $100.00 for parts and labor.
The nice part of this is that the factory pipes are stainless steel and mandrell bent just like the loudmouth so the only thing you lose on is the the 3" vs factory 2.75". The shop that did mine cut out a piece of the I-Pipe just behind the rear axel and then welded in the bullet muffler I got off the internet for $36.99. Then they cut out the stock muffler and welded in a L shaped stainless steel pipe to keep the dual exhaust continuity. They even painted the pipes going to the tips so there was no color mismatch.
All in all a superb job for $100.00 with no leaks and it only took an hour start to finish.
Don't get me wrong, I like the loudmouth sound too but for me having a couple small children and some old neighbors I decided to go dynomouth so I can have more tone then a hooker/flowmaster but yet have loudmouth performance gains.
It is definately worth $300.00 for the loudmouth but if you want it loud but not loudmouth/cutout/get nervous at the sight of a cop loud then dynomouth for $150 total cost is an excellent alternative.

i have a magnaflow muffler bolted in place on my stock piping and it sounds ok but i have been looking into getting the LM...i think i cam get my hands on one for around $210 with like 1000 miles on it and then ill just have to buy the application kit for liek $30....
is it really as loud as people say? I dont plan on doin headers or anything for a few years when the insurance drops and what not so i can get hot-roddin......will i be alright going with the loudmouth?
here is a clip of a loudmouth on stock internals on a 97 black trans am...its the third car to roll by....i love this sound....clean and crisp....

The loudmouth sounds better on the ls1 then lt1 (less rasp) but as long as your not doing headers anytime soon like you posted it should be fine. LOUD but livable. I have read numerous reports of how when you add LT headers the loudmouth becomes unbearable so you'll probably want to allow some extra cash for a new catback at that time or buy a 12" dynomax bullet muffler (dynomouth) to replace the resinator when the LT's are put in.
I say go for it. If you don't like the sound for any reason you can always replace the resinator with the dynomax bullet muffler now. They only cost $36 and sound awesome.
Good Luck

Dynomouth all the way!
Deeper and more refined sound than the LM, and other cat-backs at that.
It is as loud as an LM at WOT, but you can control the volume with the throttle at any other rpm/speed.
Stealth when you want it, screams if you want to intimidate.
Good luck
