dual/dual part numbers. help

Short/Simple version:

What is SLP's part number for the exact dual/dual muffer that shipped on SLP LS1 SS camaros?

Long version/story:

I've been trying to figure this out for a while now. I tried contacting SLP and that was difficult, in the end I have more questions than answers. They told me the following:

SLP's after market Dual-Dual (moderate) and the "SS" GM programmed muffler
(softer-tone). The muffler for the moderate Dual-Dual is part number
310301650 $279.95 or the SS (softer-tone) comes with welded tail-pipes and
tips, part number 10754 $520.95.
I was under the impression that SS camaros came with two exhaust options - the factory GM can, or SLP's dual-dual. Is there an aftermarket dual-dual and an OEM dual-dual? Or was the GM can muffler that came on SS's different from the GM can on Z28's, (in addition to the dual-dual option)?

Naturally neither part number that SLP gave me has pictures on their web site, or I could at least look myself. I'd be a bit upset of I spent $279.95 and received a GM can muffler on my doorstep.

To complicate matters, some of the "single inlet, dual outlet" muffler systems on their web site have this in the description: "This "cat back" system has just been updated with a new, more powerful sounding muffler!" I don't want that! I want the original, heavy, dual/dual quiet muffler the same as what would have came on a brand new LS1 SS equipped with that option (such as the 345hp cars). I tried to explain this to SLP but I don't think I got through..

If anyone can confirm if they gave me the correct part number, or what the correct part number is, that'd be great!

thanks.

Get on ebay and watch, I've seen complete dual/dual systems go for under $100. SLP will charge you out the wazoo for just a muffler.

No, the SS GM muff was no different than the Z28. That is what they are referring to w/the "SS" GM programmed muffler. Its a take off muffler. SLP's after market Dual-Dual (moderate) is what you are looking for. Its stainless and somewhat angular. You can see some tack weld spots on it also.

Here is a link to one on ebay w/the optional Center Mount Exhaust (CME) tailpipes.

Just out of curiosity, since you have a Z, why do you care if its SLP?

Actually, I don't. I just want a quiet performance muffler. I've sat down and researched all the options two or three times this year, and I keep coming back to the dual-dual. Have a flowmaster 80 series on it right now (previous owners' doing), and while it's not too loud to ME personally, I'm tired of the neighbors turning to look, running for their little kids, etc. (not kidding - they do). My 71 is also a bit loud and I've actually had the cops called on me once, the guy thought i was going too fast down the street (25mph in 2nd gear..maybe a little rpms, but not going fast). just want to get rid of the unwanted attention and maybe gain a little bit better exhaust flow at the same time to support future mods.

Thanks for clarifying the dual-dual vs. "SS gm programmed muffler".

Magnaflows and Hookers aren't bad as far as loudness either. IMO the Hooker is a little quieter.

I had a 70 SS, but never had any problems w/the neighbors like you. Knowing me, I'd toy with them. They seem like the minivan crowd that'll be like that no matter what exhaust you run. Just because you have a Camaro.

because SLP makes excellent performance parts regardless of whether it's a z28, T/a or a firehawk/ss. Or for that matter, ford.

SLP just charges out the wazoo for parts that are no better and in some cases give less performance than other manufacturers, w/horrid custom service. Take a poll on it if you don't believe me. See what the general concensus of SLP is.

Yeah get a Hooker cat back or better yet TSP's new true dual with X pipe and Bullets dumped at the axle.

Seriously, you'll get the same reaction with this setup as you do right now since your neighbors are gonna be that snooty about it. I'm not saying get true duals, but just get what you really want and say to hell with what the neighbors think. The cops won't do anything but laugh at whoever calls them because of so-called "speeding."

Re: dual/dual part numbers. help

I paid SLP around $700.00 or so. Don't remember.
I had to buy the exhaust to get the Blackwing air lid.
