drag Radial VS Street Tires

drag Radial VS Street Tires
Alright I have a question? I need so bad *** tires and looking into buying eather NITTO 555R or some BFG comp T/A drag radials. But dont like the idea of only 15,000 mile tread life and would like to go for a another option. What street tire has great strait line grip that would be the closest to a drag radial? thanks for your help.

Thanks.
Beleive it or not, they actually fit better up front than in the back. All I had to do was get wheels with the 50mm offset (Grand Sports), use a 1/4 spacer, and install longer studs for the spacer. My car is LOW, and there is only minor rubbing in extreme turns
Out back I have had to roll the fender lips and beat the inner fender with a 4# impact hammer. But I probably should be running a stiffer sidewall tire for what I do, but Nitto hasn't released the 555RII in a 315 yet.

oh why oh why do you need 315's up front? If its because its wrong then thats the right answer.Well I would just get drag's for the strip.I'm not a fan of driving everyday on my bfgdrags. Its not the wear factor its the picking up ever rock, stone, branch and what ever on my tires. Those suckers get sticky.Try driving to the track do 5-6 burnouts then drive home. For the next couple of days anything and everything gets stuck to those things.Thats why you have street tires and play tires.

more importantly Why would you run DRs up front. With 315s **** you must have had some major alignment problems. I had 275s up front, biggest mistake I ever made hated the bumps steering and how the car felt in general. Im glad I went back to 245s in front. Now I run 275 BFG G-Force drag radials in back and I can honestly say this is the best gripping tire money can buy. Nothing and I mean nothing will hook like these tires. Although not recomended you try this at home and yes I am a dumbass these tires wouldnt spin when I tried break torquing them in reverse. Yes my friends these tires wouldnt spin in REVERSE.

I run them because up front because they are sticky and cheap, and I autocross the car. You might want to check with the Porche Club or S2000 club to see what they think about racing with drag radials up front
For the record, the car does tend to follow grooves with the big tires, but no tire is going to change your alignment. My car has no problem with bump steer.
Finally, BFG DR's will hook better, but would not work for my use. They also don't last nearly as long. And ET Streets/Drags will hook MUCH better than BFG DR's.

The only problem with the RII's is that they are only offered in one size (275/40/17). To be legal for SCCA events, they have to be offered in six sizes and 4 different diameters. Also, I prefer the 315 R to the 275 RII (I have four of each mounted in the garage right now). Neither are as fast on the autox course as the Kuhmo Victoracer however, but the Nitto's last a lot longer.

The Nitto 555R's are a great summer tire... I have a set of 245/50/16 555Rs for the rear, and a set of 450's for the front. Those are my summer set of tires (mounted on 16" Firebird take-offs).
I have a set of all-seasons on my stock wheels stacked in my garage for those cold and rainy Northwest winters.
