Donuts without the power steering loss
Hey guys, I was just wondering how to do doughnuts without breaking the power steering. I have done doughnuts a couple of times before, but luckily I haven't lost my power steering yet.
Thanks

It puts tremendous strain on the power steering pump to have it fully turned at high RPM's. I blew a pump on my old Firebird doing it but it was covered under warrenty.

I guess I've never considered doing donuts on dry pavement where you've really gotta give it a lot and crank the steering that hard while doing it.................I usually wait for a couple inches of snow to get it out of my system 'til the next year!

Doughnuts are mad fun yo! I do them all the time.
I busted my power steering pump eariler this year doing them and oddly enough, it was when I did them in the rain. (Linky)
Now I've got a high performance pump under the hood.
If you can't figure out why to do them, why do you own a Camaro to begin with? You're missing the point.

First, you don't need a Camaro to do donuts. If you're good at it, then any RWD will suffice. In HS we did donuts in many cars and trucks. Even my VW bug. We even tried getting FWD cars to do it, but they don't work so well.
Why do I own a Camaro now and not do donuts? Because I have to pay the bills for the new tires and repairs and I also know from experience what it does to a car. Guess your perspective changes when you aren't driving a car bought w/daddy's money.
Keep it up and you'll burn out your clutches in your posi.
