Does the torque converter get more fluid as the car runs?

I have a question does the torque converter get more fluid when the car is running? Reason why I am asking is because I did pour in trans fluid in my new converter but I didn't pour in 1 quart. I poured in about close to 1/2 quart or maybe less, will the converter still get more fluid as the car is running? I already have the transmission bolted to the engine and I am wondering if I might fry up my new torque converter because i didn't pour in enough trans fluid in the new converter.
