I don't get it. According to your signature you say there isn't any difference between an SS/Z28. Your question is if CAI is beneficial to an SS. I assume you're asking this because of the scoop on an SS.

CAI's like the Super Sucker(SSRA) allow you to seal the airbox to it. This is a much better induction system than the SS hood.

 

Well I was actually wondering if it was any different than the ss hood, because it would be a waste of money if it wasn't....smarta$$

A ram air kit will work better because it will be sealed (assuming you seal off the stock inlet).

 

All the CAI's on the market are different than the SS hood. The SS hood is actually a hood, whereas the CAI's are not a hood. CAI's take in air from under the air filter. You can keep your stock/aftermarket lid if you get a CAI and still get the benefits of an SS hood or a Pontiac hood for that matter. Check out this guys website for pics of the SSRA to see what a CAI looks like. I think this might clear up your conusion.
