Question Does an LS1 Camaro SS make use of a lid?

Does an LS1 Camaro SS make use of a lid? I thought that they just had an open filter that was directly under the ram air part of the hood. Please excuse the dumbness, I have an 97' Z right now and I'm about to purchase an 02' SS.

The LS1 SSs don't have a open lid intake. The SS intake looks like the Z28s except for that really high performance 25¢ piece of rubber that helps direct the air from the hood to the intake. So a whisper lid is still a good idea on a SS.

Get a SLP lid. I believe it's the only one that has provisions for the air pump hose that feeds into the stock air box. Most people with other lids get this little K&N filter and stick it in the end of the hose. It then flops around the the engine compartment. Or if they are really innovative they zip tie it to something in the engine compartment .

Make sure the SS didn't have the 345hp option, because if the car was optioned that way, then it will already have a better than stock lid on it.
