Does a certain year have more power?
All depends on what years your talking about. 98 and up LS1 cars had more power than the 93-97 LT1 cars. However if you get into special cars like the LT4 comp T/A's some of them had more power than LS1 cars. It can become very complicated and complex. 96 and 97 cars had a few horses over 93-95 cars, ram air cars have a few extra horses over a non ram air, and dual cat cars are the same deal.
I'm actually not sure what you are trying to ask.

Don't go by the factory power ratings. All LS1 cars are underrated, the numbers the factory gives will only confuse you.
I consider most of them to be around 350hp stock. There's no difference between Z28s, Formulas, and Trans Ams. I doubt WS6s and SSs are really putting out any much more power (if any at all) when you get down to it, too (the Ram Air setup is a joke and the different exhaust won't matter much.)
01-02 model year cars are slightly faster than 98-00 model year cars. 98-00s have a slightly more aggressive cam, but the 01-02s have the LS6 intake along with a smoother truck cam, no EGR, and a couple other minor differences.
But, when you see an LS1, just consider it around 350hp. It's confusing to compare the dyno numbers of different A4 and M6 98-00 and 01-02 cars then try and estimate the drivetrain losses to come up with real crank HP numbers. Keep in mind that every car is different, too.

Exactly what tailwindxr7 said. Do not go by factory power figures. The LS1 f-body (Camaro and Firebird) have the same power as the C5 vette. I dynoed my car with only a lid/filter at the time and did a best that day of 296 to the rear wheels. That equates to 355 hp that the car makes considering my A4 tranny and a 20% drivetrain loss.
Can someone direct me to a an official website that shows the '01 & '02's have the LS6 intake? I've been reading this for quite a while and would like to find out for sure either way. Are you also saying then that the '01 & '02 C5's have the LS6 intake?

Supposidly the newer f-bod's use a truck cam, that give more lowend tq, but thanks to the ls6 intake ,maybe the newer cast iron manifolds, and minor differences, the peak HP ratings stay the same..

As others have said, don't go by what the factory says, all LS1 cars are underrated.
Heres a little guide to note the performance changes between the different years of LS1:
1998 - Bigger Cam, Bigger fuel injectors, Crappier Exhaust Manifold, LS1 Intake
1999 - Bigger Cam, Smaller fuel injectors, Crappier Exhaust Manifold, LS1 Intake
2000 - Bigger Cam, Smaller fuel injectors, Better Exhaust Manifold, LS1 Intake
2001-02 - Smaller Cam, Bigger fuel injectors, Better Exhaust Manifold, LS6 Intake
As you can see, the 01-02 cars definitely have an advantage, even though they have a smaller cam. However, once you start upgrading an LS1 and swap out all the parts that are different, the playing field becomes even and no year has the advantage.
