i want a gated shifter for my z, when i saw it on the audi r8 i thought it would be a good idea to get one. but i cant find anyone who makes it.

i did find this thread but i dont want to make it myself.

I did a quick search but didn't find anyone who made it either. Making the plate doesn't look all that hard, making it fit the console seems like it would be a pain in the ***. Based on what that guy did in the pics, it looks like a quick 2-3 shift would be very frustrating. I can myself hitting that piece of of metal that separates 1st and 3rd gear A LOT and I'd probably end up ripping it out. If I were you I'd try to find a car with one in place and drive it to see if you like it. But it would look cool if you could paint it black to match the console.

I test drove an audi r8 that had it and I had no trouble shifting I plan to powder coat it black but leave a square of silver around the gates. Thats if i ever make one

i can't even begin to imagin how annoying those shifts would be...at least power shifts.

maybe on a show car...but anything that gets actual use...NO way.

besides you would need to make a thin shift handle to go with it...

on a side note...if you need a thin shift handle...i can machine one out of stainless. i have made them before (not thin though) for stock and factory hurst shifters.
wouldn't take much to slim down the middle of the handle.
