Do I need the ALT UD pulley on an M6?

I tried searching but nothing on M6 stuff.

I'm getting the UD ASP Crank pulley soon. I've heard that the A4's have charging problems w/o the ALT UD pulley. And what I got from the search, the ALT pulley negates the gains from the UD crank pulley. Is that true?

The ASP pulley kit w/ the ALT pulley is only like $15 extra anyway.

the M6 engines idle a little higher than the A4 (8-900 vs 6-700, please correct me if im wrong on the specs there) so you will be a little better off than a A4 car. but i would definitely get the alt pulley, too. dont underestimate the importance of your charging systems impact on performance and driveability.

No, you don't need the alternator pulley on a M6 car. My ASP has been on since 2001 with no charging issues.

agreed...unless you're running a big stereo...you shouldn't need it.

i've had mine on my car for over 3 yrs, and 1/2 of that has been with the cam, and still no problems.

It's actually alt OD pulley, but you don't need on the M6 - full charge at 800 rpm.
