dissappointed in lt header+borla catback sound

i recently installed pace setter lt's on my ls1.... i already have a borla cat back...

but i'm highly disappointed in the sound bc my borla muffler is a single inlet single outlet so the left side has good sound but the right side (where it y's off and bypasses the muffler) is twice as loud bc it is basically coming straight from the headers without restriction...

i don't mind the right side being louder but upon mid/high rpm there is a constant "popping" during acceleration... i heard there is a plate that can be installed where the tip bolts onto the 3" pipe... has anyone done this or does it help????

thanks

Mine only does the poping when it's cold. I've got the same set up. LT's Catted Y and Borla W/o plate. I also had mine tuned. DOes it still do it when it's warm? or after a LONG decel.

the borla originally came with (or should have) the plates you are talking about. it is "tunable" for sound level.

as for the popping...it is the nature of the beast when you install a low restriction exhaust

Especially one that bypasses or doesn't have a true muffler.

when i rev the car in neutral it definitely gets better when the car is warm but thats not the problem , but from 4+ rpm through each gear it pops real bad. i was thinkin about getting a dynomax bullet to just put right behind my Y pipe .. i've heard that tones it down alot

Restrictor plates. I'm sure Borla would sell a set.

Re: dissappointed in lt header+borla catback sound

all my friends back home with borla found a way to get rid of the popping, put a dynomax race bullet muffler before the borla's, it cleans up the sound a lot. they are like 36 bucks so their cheap. they are racing strait through mufflers so he would lose no hp. get em through summit.

no more popping
