Dissapointment?! DYNO #'S

Hey guys, I got the dyno on my car today and i feel a little dissapointed. I peaked at 315.2 rwhp and 321.5 rwtq. The car has 62k on her with mods in sig. The guy at the shop actually said they were pretty damn good numbers(considering my modsand for an A4) but i feel a little dissapointed. He said if i was a M6 and had lt's i prolly would had bout 20 more hp and tq but i dont care much bout that just want to know if i should be dissapointed. I always use royal purple syn and chevron supreme so i treat her the best i can. P.S. she still feels fast as hell on the highway so im not dissapointed with performance just the numbers. Any input is greatly appreciated, Thanks Alot

Looks about right to me I'd say. I dyno'd my car last year and got 289hp / 307tq ... figure the main power adder you've got is the headers, and you got ~25 hp more than my car ... not bad IMO. The auto does kill the rwhp #'s.

i agree...looks right on the money

stock auto: 285hp
headers: 10hp
borla: 5hp
lid: 7hp
LS6 intake: 7hp
asp pulley: 1hp
ported TB: 1hp

looks pretty close, and if you had a lower starting point, that would easily explain it.

I was kinda wondering about dyno numbers, too. What's good or bad? I had a chance a couple weeks ago for a free dyno run and got...
294rwhp & 305rwtq
Sounds like my numbers are pretty reasonable.
Relatively stock 2002, A4, Lid, & dirty K&N.
(Well, it was free until one of the tires started to chunk).

Your numbers are correct as well for an A4. My numbers are in sig and I have almost the same mods as onsickblackss. Don't feel bad, A4s make lower numbers.

Re: Dissapointment?! DYNO #'S

get rid of the Royal Purple.. Have had friends that worked for them. None of the engine builders I know would use the stuff in their car.
It does leave a residue..

My dyno - bone stock no mods- 320rwhp/337rwtq

All dynos are different. You cant compare mine with yours unless they were done on the same dyno on the same day back to back..

Keep in mind that another item that is important is how that dyno chart looks.. Not just the peak power.

As other have stated, get it to the track! see what it can do!

I was thinking if I ever get around to putting the car on a dyno I might lock the converter for a run and compare it to an unlocked run. I'm assuming that's where the majority of power loss is with the A4s. Anyone tried this?

This is the key. And there are also little tricks people use to dyno higher.

Dyno numbers for an automatic don't mean a whole lot IMO. Track times > dyno numbers

Looks right in-line with what I have seen. Remember if it performs well but dynos terrible, the numbers do not matter.

I have a customer car that dyno's 340rwhp but traps 120mph and runs low 11's. Dyno's are tuning tools and that is all.
