Last run today shifting from 3rd the 4th i believe i hit second. the low trac. light came on and the car jerked and sounded like it broke in half. rolling through 3/4 track the car died and would not start right away when i stopped and tried to start it. I got it strarted and drove it home. I barly idles and when you reach the friction point the shifter and tranny shake like S$#&. any help would be appreciated. mario

You have, and this really isnt open to debate.. various bent pushrods, bent valves and notched pistons..

i bet it shakes like mad at 1500rpm?

the SES light flash once and a while?

time for some stage 2 heads

Ouch! Sorry to hear that dude! Yeah, I'd have to agree that there is some serious damage done to your engine --- whether you've got bent pushrods or valves is obviously yet to be determined, but I'd say surely there's something going to be hurt bad. I guess it'll be time for some new, hi-po internals then, eh?!

Pushrod are definetly bent, you probably will want to look at the valves too. You can do a leakdown test to see if they're all right(the valves that is).

I'm curious, when you thought you hit 2nd, did you just leave it like that and coast along?! Please tell me you got right back on the clutch as soon as you felt that it hit the wrong gear!!!!!!! Cuz from the way you describe it, it sounds like you left it in 2nd and kept on goin, and that is probably what did all the damage!!! I got lucky (Knock on wood, and thank god) a couple of times the first time I ever went to the track. Twice, I hit 2nd from 3rd at the shift light, but the instant I felt it, I was right back in on the clutch and in neutral and just coasting, and my baby's been fine (thank god!!!)!!!

Edit, I just looked at your sig and saw you have nitrous. If this was on a spray run, it don't matter how quickly you get back in on the clutch, most likely your ****ed and have bent pushrods, and possibly bent valves or collapsed valve springs or various other problems, sorry to hear this bro!

yeah you need to put the clutch is ASAP if you do that, i let a freind drive my car and he did that twice, i looked at the tach and the needle wasnt past all the numbers, but i also have some upgrades so i think that and puting the clutch is what saved my car

depending on what the ticking noise sounds like, it could also eb a lifter.

don't mean to upset you but sounds like your gonna need valves lifters probably a couple pistons depending on how hard they got damaged better get someone to get that thing apart and don't run it anymore till it is fixed your just creating more damage.

PhantomTA summed it up the best. I just went through this.

You did more than just bend one pushrod, I'll guarentee it. Sorry, don't mean to bring you down.

When I did the 3-2 shift, I bent like 7 pushrods, bent 1 valve, notched a few pistons (nothing serious tho), blew out two fuel injectors some how, and my timing chain is junk. How the last two happened, only God knows?

You've definatly got valve damage if your car is shaking/stumbling like hell under 1700 rpms or so.

Unfortunatly for me, I could not upgrade to some new heads etc when I got my car repaired, so it's back to the way it was.
