Angry Direct-Flo lid, mine doesn't fit!

I thought I did some sound research deciding which air lid would be best for my '01 WS6 Trans Am. I called LS1 Motorsports and ordered (2) Direct-Flo lids, which were $95 ea. Having one for my 01 and another for my cousin's 02 WS6, they arrived yesterday. Trying to get these things on is a JOKE! The 4 tabs at the rear don't even come CLOSE to fitting in the holes. The problem appears to be the outlet of the lid itself is resting on the radiator shroud. I can get it installed and clamped with the tabs sitting on top of their holes but then I see exposed filter which will create air leak and we all know that's not good.

What's up with these air lids??? Anyone else have a problem getting they're Direct-Flo lid to fit? No way will they take it back, I opened the box to find a couple letters peeling off so I removed them and replaced it with a "Ram Air" decal.

Any tips on getting this thing installed???

Its hard to install the first time. After that, you will be able to put it on and take it off with no problem. Struggle some more, feed the tabs into the holes..it will go. Don't run it without the tabs engaged or it will leak. Good luck.

Force it to fit. These lids are pretty durable... Mine was a lil difficult to fit the first time, but like he said above it's a piece of cake from then on.

Cool

Got it on with a little forcing. Fits fine, looks great and works as well as they claim!

Thumbs up

Right on man!! I just installed the same lid on my car a week ago, and at first I was like "is this a f'ing joke?!" - especially when the "instructions" read: may be "a little tight" when installing for the first time. Also, I had a couple letters that were sort of peeling off mine too --- for the cost of the thing ($200 Canadian) I would have liked a little better than peeling decals and a nearly-impossible fit! But oh well, it's on now right?!

NOTE: to anyone else installing a new lid (LS1 Motorsports "Direct-Flo" lid in particular) it is a Pain In The ROYAL A$$ the FIRST time you try to install it --- but be patient, and "gently forceful", and it WILL GO!!!!! Once it had been on for a couple days though, it came off and went back on easily.
