difference between ss 325hp an ss 345hp

I own manual 2002 convertible ss camaro. Whats the difference between 325hp and 345hp. My camaro has exhaust coming out the center. I have seen stickers on doors from slp stating 345hp. But are they always applied to doors when set off to slp shop for options? Thanks.

The 345 has either a Center mounted exhaust or a slp loudmouth daul dual. It also comes with a slp air lid. 325 comes with the big baffled air lid and dual single tip non-SLP exhaust.

20 HP , sorry I had to do it ! Welcome to the board and as stated the increased HP ratings were due to the SLP installed options .

They installed their airbox lid, and either their Loud mouth catback or their CME ( CENTER MOUNTED EXHAUST ) which has 4 tips in the center of the rear bumper . They may have also installed their 85 mm MAF sensor and a K&N air filter as well but I may be wrong on that one . I'm sure someone who has a SLP car will chime in .

SLP never installed a loudmouth catback on a vehicle for GM. They installed optional SLP dual/dual w/optional CME or 2OTL depending on years. The dual/dual is NOT a loudmouth. Its actually pretty quiet and raspless where as the LM is noisy as hell and rasps like a burned out glasspack. IIRC for a little time there was a 1OTL on the SS, but I don't know if this was SLP or GM.

The difference betweeen 325 and 345 advertised rating (note ADVERTISED) was an SLP lid and 3" dual/dual catback vs the GM lid and 2.75" exhaust. Wheather or not is was CME or just the plain dual tips made no difference on performance.

Now there were other differences, but stripes and such didn't make the HP difference

Who REALLY knows what GM was thinking. The regular LS1 was rated at 305, the Ram Air stuff at 320, and the Corvette stuff at 345 and 350.

They all dyno around 290-300 to the tire.

It was actually a Donaldson air lid on the 345 hp package, not the SLP lid.

Back when I ordered my 1998 SS I wasn't to crazy of that single exit exhaust that came on the cars. Being that I wanted some of the other SLP options I also had them install the dual/dual. The car was rated at 327hp witht he exhaust. Well it was WAY to quiet for me...so as I modded the car I changed the exhaust....to a single outlet system none the less.

If you have the stock CME with the stock lid your car has 335 HP and there will be an SLP option sticker on the passenger side door noting the Performance Centre Exhaust option. If you also have the upgraded lid and Donaldson air filter you have 345 HP and the SLP Option sticker will reflect that.

On the driver's side door, if you have any SLP Options there will be a Y2Y RPO code listed.
