Just get some cheese to go with the whine, and you will be fine

Check the rear end fluid and throw in some GM additive.

Funny, I called the dealer to tell him I was taking it to GM to check it out, and he said the same thing. If it goes out w/in 2 months, he will pay my warranty deductable.

Is it hard to change the rear end fluid? And where do I get that additive?

Bama,

Gonna ask that you please consider the forum (what does and doesn't belong) before making a post.

Computer codes???? we have a forum for that.

Rear-end troubles?? we have a forum for that.

Thanks for your cooperation.

No problems here.

I know that this is a slow forum and this is not as big a problem as it is in other high-traffic forums (driving legitimate post down the list) but we want to make everything clear on the issue.

No hard feelings... nothing like that. Just trying to get the point across.

Thanks.

Is it hard to change the rear end fluid? Are you serious? Where to I get the GM additive? Well um...... GM may be a good place to look.
Not trying to make fun of you but coming from a guy with hot rod it sounds alittle funny.

Ever think the car may have been ragged on quite a bit prior to you owning it? They could have been spraying and running slicks.

I have a friend making over 400 whp still running the stock rear w/out a prob.

YA NEVER KNOW MAN!!!! And I thought maybe there was a cheap internet place to get the additive. This whole platform is new to me.........I am used to building carbed SBC's.

To change the diff fluid just take off the bottom bolts on the rear cover and the fluid will come rushing out. To fill just take the plug out of the side (3/8ths wratched) and add the fluid + LSD additive. The whine is either gears with a bad wear pattern or there is no LSD addetive in there.

Building a motor is a bit more complicated then checking the rear end fluid

Re: Did I make a mistake? LS1 nightmare

If you have a zexel torsen diff, then you do not need to put in the additive. Additive is for clutch diffs, not spider gear diffs.
