Question Descreened MAF vs. aftermarket MAF ends - do the MAF ends offer more flow ?

Seems like they would be the better way to go since you are getting the front & rear "cleaned up" for improved airflow.

The screen thread got me wondering ...

If that's true, then the only advantage to the descreened factory MAF is $'s , right ?

Thanks !!

It must have been a while since the MAF discussion came up, because I almost don't even remember the exact way I did the MAF work. But I'll try. It's not just a matter of descreening the thing...there's also the rather tedious job of cutting the "web" aluminum from each Maf end and grindind them down smooth. And that is followed by CAREFULLY cutting the plastic webbing from the unit itself leaving just the sensor wires in the airstream. It took a total of about 1 1/2 hours to produce a finished product that sells for a couple hundred bucks when you buy the prettier version. It's a matter of tools, and what your time's worth to ya I guess.
