I know back in the carberator days you could do that, as I have seen it. On a ls1 or lt1 I would think it would be a little harder, due to the throttle body sits in front of the engine and not on top. I just use a good throttle body cleaner while the engine is running at normal temp, then reset the computer to erase any codes that might have set.

Re: decarboning engine

do a search for "seafoam" and "deepcreep"

both are designed to be poured in the throttle body while running and clean out the engine.

worked on my lt1

Re: decarboning engine

toothbrush and throttlebody cleaner........the whole can, one of the small ones like the dealers use. just be aware that when you start it, it will smoke like crazy for a short while. after that you could always throw some fuel injector cleaner in.

Re: decarboning engine

water works great for cleaning carbon out of an engine, get a container and suck it into the running engine with a small vacuum line

GM also makes a product call Top engine cleaner it works similar to Sea Foam. I used it and had no problems.

Re: decarboning engine

find someone who works at a dealer. my techs have a special pressurized tool that induces dacrab cleaner and if you want injector cleaner directly into the fuel rail and intake.
